Welcome to today’s issue. In this lengthier-than-usual post (you may click on the headline to read in your browser, if your email has cut short this post), I thought I'd look at an interesting — and intense — debate underway on Chinese social media, involving some big-hitting commentators, on how people in China are reacting to India's continuing Covid-19 crisis, which has been a trending topic over the past few days.
Very interesting post from Chairman Rabbit - thank you for sharing! As far as the schadenfreude/etc debate goes, I also think it is simply not wise for any government to crow about its COVID achievement relative to its neighbors while the epidemic itself is still raging. What has happened to India itself demonstrates why premature declaration of victory is unwise. I expect that the CCP will have no trouble containing any future outbreaks - and I certainly hope they are able to do so! - but it does not appear wise to tempt fate when China itself is still highly vulnerable to runaway outbreaks for many of the same reasons India was.
Thanks for the post. I am following all of them religiously. presents me with a view I am not getting anywhere, no other platform. So thanks.
And All this analysis and future prospects of world economy and polity is motivating me to learn Chinese. I think it will very difficult to learn (I just tried basics).
